Your Guide to the Inaugural Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL
This August 30, 2024, the city of Asheville will become a thrilling hub for art enthusiasts, history buffs, and active citizens as it prepares to launch the first-ever Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL. The inaugural event will take place on Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7, bring a unique blend of history, arts, and culture that celebrates the city’s journey from a boomtown to a powerhouse in the world of arts and culture.
The Musical Highlight
The Boomtown Arts & Heritage FestAVL is set to feature more than a dozen musical performances from acclaimed local and national acts, such as Toubab Krewe and Nex Millen, and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe. To keep the music rolling, after-parties hosted by Eulogy will punctuate each day’s events and entertain attendees into the night.
As a special feature, this year’s Symphony in the Park is part of the festival. The Asheville Symphony will keep the crowd entertained by playing everything from classical works to movie scores to pop hits.
A Walk Through History
The festival will provide attendees with an immersive experience, diving into Asheville’s rich and vibrant past. The event will feature several city tours led by seasoned guides:
- Buildings and Pioneers: The Asheville Architecture Trail Walking Tour will take participants on a two-hour journey through the city’s architectural masterpieces.
- Asheville Music History Walking Tour: Award-winning author and music historian Alli Marshall will educate participants about the origin and evolution of Asheville’s celebrated music scene.
- Historic James Vester Miller Trail: Andrea Clark, photographer and granddaughter of James Vester Miller, will deliver a captivating historical narrative of the renowned Black brick mason and contractor who is renowned for constructing some of Asheville’s most prominent buildings.
Community Happenings
