Asheville Sanitation Crews Prepare for October Trash Collection on October 7, 2024

Trash Carts Collection Day

Asheville’s Trash Collection Update for October 2024

Hey Asheville! It’s that time of the year again. We all know what Mondays and Tuesdays mean in our beautiful city – it’s trash collection time! If you’re one of the lucky folks whose regular pickup day is Monday or Tuesday, mark your calendars for October 7, 2024. The City of Asheville Sanitation crews will be out and about, taking care of business.

When to Put Out Your Carts

Just a friendly reminder: make sure to set your trash carts out by 7 a.m. on Monday. The earlier you put them out, the better, as it helps our sanitation workers stick to their schedule. Don’t forget, if your cart has a City logo on it, you’re one of the City customers. If it doesn’t, that means you’re a County customer, so make sure you know which one you are!

What to Include in Your Carts

Now, let’s talk about what you can and can’t put in those carts. This is super important, so listen up! Please don’t throw in limbs, yard debris, construction debris, carpet, concrete, or anything else bulky or hazardous. Those items need to be collected separately by a contractor. It may take a bit longer, but it helps keep our community clean and safe!

If you’re feeling the urge to toss out some trash, good news! You can put non-recyclable trash in both your recycling cart and your trash cart at this time. Any carts placed at the curb this week will be treated as trash, and yes, you might see both City trash trucks and Curbie Recycling trucks out there collecting trash. However, just a heads up – everything collected will be sent to the landfill at the moment. But don’t worry, we’re told that collection of recyclables will resume shortly, so hold tight!

Accessibility for Collection

When you’re putting your carts out, keep in mind that the staff needs to easily access them. It’s best to place them where the sanitation workers can roll them to their trucks without a hitch. Also, remember that the trucks will only drive on roads that are safely accessible. While the city is doing its best, they may not be able to reach every single area, even if the roads are clear, due to various factors. So, keep your fingers crossed that your neighborhood is on the route!

Stay Tuned for Updates

As the day unfolds on Monday, more information will be released regarding the progress of service areas for Tuesday. You’ll want to stay updated to know what’s happening in your neighborhood. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can always reach out to the City of Asheville’s Sanitation department. They are always ready to help you out!

Let’s all do our part this week and keep our beloved city of Asheville looking its best! Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends and neighbors about these important details. Happy trash day, and thank you for being such great citizens!
