Takes from August 4 to 6, 2022.
This is the leading event for old-time and bluegrass music, and it is hailed as the country’s longest-running folk festival. Ballad singers, banjo players, and cloggers congregate here to tell stories of a bygone period via music and dance, preserving our historic Southern Appalachian culture in the process. If you can’t make it to this annual August event, check out Shindig on the Green, a smaller but equally vibrant concert series hosted for free on select Saturdays in downtown Asheville.

Some of the local artists who participate in these events are well-known nationally. The Asheville Pinball Museum is a pinball arcade and bar in the Battery Park section of Asheville, which is close to downtown. T.C. Di Bella is the majority owner.
The museum has been open since August of 2013, and it has been in its present extended location since early 2012. The 2,500 square foot facility, which was formerly occupied by a restaurant for 80 years, now houses more than 40 pinball machines. Another 50 machines are in reserve, with plans to expand to a new location in the future. In addition to the museum’s extensive pinball machine collection, visitors can play classic arcade video games. There is also a bar in the arcade that serves local brews.

One of Asheville’s hidden beauties is located next to the Omni Grove Park Inn. This historic location, now known as Grovewood Village, was previously home to Biltmore Industries’ weaving and woodworking facilities. You’ll now find an arts and crafts location that gives you a glimpse into a significant portion of Asheville’s history.
A gorgeous landscape with old-world charm may be found on these 11 acres of well-kept grounds. Grovewood Gallery, active artist studios, the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum, and Asheville’s only antique vehicle museum are all located in this area. Special events, rotating exhibitions, and live craft demonstrations by local and regional artisans are held throughout the year.
