Asheville Police Department Seeking Owner of Found Prosthetic Leg

In an unusual twist, the Asheville Police Department is on the hunt, not for a criminal, but for the rightful owner of a lost prosthetic leg. The leg was discovered near Pritchard Park in downtown Asheville on Wednesday, and since then, officers have been striving to reunite it with its owner.

The prosthetic is currently in the department’s custody, waiting to be claimed. “This isn’t an everyday occurrence, and we understand how crucial such an item can be to the person who needs it,” a spokesperson from the Asheville Police Department stated.

Leg Found Near Pritchard Park

The prosthetic leg was apparently discovered near Pritchard Park, a popular local spot in the heart of Asheville. It is not clear how the leg ended up in the park, but it appeared to be in good condition when it was found.

“We’re not sure about how the leg ended up here, but our main focus now is to get it back to its rightful owner.” the spokesperson added.

How to Claim the Lost Prosthetic Leg

Anyone missing a prosthetic leg or perhaps knowing someone who is should immediately get in touch with the Asheville Police Department. In order to claim the leg, you need to call the evidence room at 828-232-4576 and schedule an appointment.

“We understand how this can impact the life of the person missing it, so we urge anyone with information to come forward,” the spokesperson pleaded.

A Community Effort

The Asheville community members have been sharing the information on social media as well, in an effort to aid the police in this unique venture. In the meantime, the Asheville Police Department is encouraging people to take extra care of their belongings and keep an eye out for things that seem out of place.

“We handle every lost property case with equal importance and we hope this one will have a happy ending soon,” the police spokesperson concluded.

Local Support is Essential

Instances like this, although rare, highlight the importance of community vigilance and support for local law enforcement. In these unique cases, the public’s help can make a massive difference for someone’s life quality.

If anyone has tips about the leg’s potential owner or how it ended up in Pritchard Park, they are encouraged to contact Asheville Police immediately. Your information could be key in reuniting this essential item with its rightful owner.

The police department is grateful for the public’s assistance in spreading the word and hopes this strange incident will soon have a happy resolution.
