Asheville Planning and Zoning Board Approves Acton Hill Development
The Asheville Planning and Zoning Board has given the green light to a new development project off Smokey Park Highway. The project, known as Acton Hill, received approval for a conditional zoning request during a city planning and zoning board meeting.
Prime Location and Features
The site of Acton Hill is situated across the highway from the Buncombe Sports Park. This upcoming development is slated to include 349 residential units, a grocery store, and space for commercial and mixed-use purposes.
“This is designed for folks to live in and have a community. There are a number of parks, dog parks, playground, pool, clubhouse, gazebo, mail kiosk, grilling areas,” noted attorney Derek Allen, who represents the applicant, during the meeting. “There are over two miles of sidewalks internal to this project, and a half mile of walk paths. And that’s all very intentional to make it feel like a community.”
Enhancing the Community
Acton Hill will be adjacent to the existing Acton Woods Apartments. Local residents have observed construction crews clearing the area for the development over the past few months. The final approval for Acton Hill is set to take place with the Asheville City Council.
Approval Process and Future Plans
The zoning board’s approval of Acton Hill showcases a step forward in the growth and development of the Asheville area. With its strategic location and thoughtful amenities, this new project aims to enhance the community and offer a vibrant living environment for residents.
Asheville continues to evolve as a dynamic city, welcoming new developments that contribute to its economic and social landscape. Acton Hill is poised to be a significant addition to the region’s real estate market, providing modern living spaces and convenient amenities for its residents.
