Asheville Regional Airport has relocated its rental car check-in counters to temporary mobile buildings just outside the baggage claim area due to ongoing construction of a new passenger terminal. Passengers needing to rent or check in for a car can follow signs through a covered construction walkway to access the rental car counters.
The temporary relocation is necessary to facilitate construction in the south area of the baggage claim. However, the operational impact on the baggage claim area is expected to be minimal during this transition period.
Additionally, the airport has introduced customer service check-ins in the ticket lobby area during peak hours while the lobby undergoes construction. Extra queuing space outside will be provided for passengers checking in and dropping off their bags.
Passengers are advised to pay attention to signage for guidance on navigating the evolving operational changes caused by the construction. It is recommended that passengers arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled departure times.
The current four-year construction project, which commenced in August 2023, aims to expand the airport from seven gates to a minimum of 12 gates upon completion.
