Asheville, North Carolina, is getting ready for an exciting night out that looks to bring hope and healing to a community that has faced significant challenges. On Friday, October 25, 2024, the vibrant city of Asheville will be hosting an epic evening of live music at One World Brewing West, located at 520 Haywood Road. The event will be a “party for a good cause,” aiming to honor those who have helped during the difficult times following the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
The best part? Admission is donation-based, allowing everyone to contribute as they can. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy performances from a lineup of fabulous musicians. Headlining the night will be the legendary go-go band Pump Blenders from Washington D.C. In addition to them, local favorites like Reggie Headen, Datrian Johnson, E’Lon JD, and Mike Martinez’s Big Blue will also grace the stage, ensuring a night filled with fantastic tunes and good vibes.
This event emphasizes the importance of community support and resilience. With many people still unaccounted for and grieving the loss of loved ones, this gathering is not just about music; it’s a way to bring people together, celebrate their strength, and remind one another that kindness and community spirit can flourish even in the darkest times.
As part of the ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen the community, the event will also spotlight the forthcoming Blue Note Junction, a project that represents hope and growth for the city. Featuring over 20 years of foundational work, the initiative is a collaboration between local organizations including Hood Huggers International, Peace Gardens & Market, and Asheville Creative Arts.
This exciting new venture is poised to become an inclusive, healing, educational, and entrepreneurial hub in West Asheville. The Blue Note Junction is not just any project; it is set to be the first community-owned commercial real estate project in Asheville. This center will cater particularly to the local BIPOC community by fostering both health and economic empowerment.
So what exactly will Blue Note Junction offer? It will feature an indoor/outdoor performance venue where artists can showcase their talents, an outdoor community spa for relaxation and wellness, and a commercial kitchen to support local food entrepreneurs. There will also be a co-working & counseling center, a hair salon, a barber shop, and even an artist studio village. Plus, it will serve as the home for Hood Tours, offering a unique look at the local culture.
The need for the Blue Note Junction has only become clearer and more pressing in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s impact. The support generated from the upcoming event will not only uplift local musicians and artists but will also ensure that these vital community spaces and services can thrive for generations to come.
Everyone in Asheville is invited to join this empowering night of music, community, and renewal. Let’s come together, support each other, and celebrate the resilience and spirit of our beautiful city!
