Asheville FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Adjusts Hours Ahead of Thanksgiving Closure

Asheville, N.C. Sees Changes at FEMA Disaster Recovery Center

In the beautiful city of Asheville, North Carolina, big updates are on the way for those looking for assistance from the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located at the Asheville Mall. Starting Monday, November 25, the center is adjusting its operating hours to better serve the community.

New Operating Hours

Residents can expect the DRC to be open during the new hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. However, note that the center will be closed every Sunday. This important change comes as Buncombe County officials aim to help more people as they navigate through the disaster recovery process.

Temporary Closure for Thanksgiving

County Manager Avril Pinder shared some important news during a recovery briefing on Tuesday, indicating that the Asheville Mall DRC will have a temporary closure from November 28 to December 1 for the Thanksgiving weekend. It’s a time for gratitude, family, and friends, and the DRC will re-open its doors at 8 a.m. on December 2.

Current Hours for This Week

If you need to visit the DRC this week, you’re in luck! The center will keep its regular hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. until the new schedule kicks in on November 25. It’s a good time to gather any documents or information you may need to help with your disaster recovery applications.

Finding a DRC Near You

If you’re not in Asheville, there’s no need to worry! You can visit fema.gov/drc to find the nearest Disaster Recovery Center in your area. It’s a valuable resource designed to help those who have been affected by disasters find the assistance they need.

Water Safety Update

In addition to the DRC updates, residents might be pleased to hear that the boil water notice has been lifted according to the Water Resources Department. This is a wonderful relief for the community, allowing everyone to enjoy safe and clean drinking water once again without additional precautions.

A Community Coming Together

As Asheville continues to recover and rebuild, local officials are committed to providing support and resources to those in need. The community’s resilience and the teamwork of everyone involved truly shine through during these times. Remember, if you or someone you know could benefit from the services at the DRC, don’t hesitate to take advantage of the extended hours and the support offered.

Stay Informed

Keep an eye out for any additional announcements and updates regarding the Disaster Recovery Center and community resources. This is a time for everyone to come together and support one another as Asheville continues on the road to recovery.
