2 Arrested for Drugs While Responding to Call for Gunfire in Asheville, Police Say

The Asheville Police Department reported that two individuals were apprehended on drug-related charges while responding to a call regarding gunfire in the city.

Incident Details

Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Atkinson Street following reports of gunshots at approximately 1:12 a.m. on June 10. When police arrived at the scene, the suspects had already fled. Law enforcement discovered a residence that had been struck by gunfire, fortunately without any injuries.

Arrests Made

Dillon Dusting Hart, aged 33, who was wanted for larceny, was apprehended after a brief chase on foot. Upon his arrest, Hart was found in possession of illegal substances. Shortly afterward, Chance Taylor Williams, aged 29, was also arrested for possessing a trafficking amount of drugs. Williams cooperated during the arrest process.

Charges and Bookings

Regarding the charges, Dillon Dusting Hart faces:

  • Possession of schedule II drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting, delaying, or obstructing law enforcement
  • Shoplifting and concealing goods

Hart was taken to the Buncombe County Detention Facility with a bond set at $5,500.

Chance Taylor Williams, on the other hand, has been charged with:

  • Felony possession of Schedule II substances
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Trafficking methamphetamine
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver meth
  • Manufacturing, selling, or distributing controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school
  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver Schedule II substances
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Williams was also brought to the Buncombe County Detention Facility and his bond was set at $25,000.

The Asheville Police Department continues its investigation into the incident. Both suspects have been placed in custody and are facing multiple drug-related charges resulting from the call for gunfire.
