After a warm, dry June, Asheville experienced a particularly wet July — more than double the average rainfall — which led to a lush environment for trees to thrive.

Neufeld advises that while some trees may begin to change sooner, the warm temperatures in the coming days might slow down the full display of colors. The trees tend to drop their green pigments as nights cool off, unveiling vibrant shades of orange, yellow, and red.
