Asheville Gears Up for the Release of “Asheville’s Finest 4: Da City” and Community Reparations Jamboree

Asheville, the vibrant city in the heart of North Carolina, recently saw a wave of excitement as local rapper and community advocate Eaze Dogg took center stage for the release of his latest EP, titled “Asheville’s Finest 4: Da City.” The event, held at Sovereign Kava on April 6, 2024, was a celebration of creativity and collaboration, as Eaze Dogg and several invited feature artists showcased their talent to a captivated audience.

The Release Event

From 8 to 12 p.m., attendees at Sovereign Kava were treated to a night of live music and energetic performances. Eaze Dogg, a proud Asheville native, shared the stage with artists like Big Emage, VALLO!, Free Da Glitch, R’illRight, $hameful, YungHeartless, WavySpice01, Amazin, Lil Yungsta, and Lul Blackk, each bringing their unique style and sound to the event.

In an interview, Eaze Dogg expressed his passion for discovering new talent and creating a platform for artists to showcase their work. “I go around different places, different hip hop venues and events and discover artists performing. They actually bring it to the table with their energy the way I do,” Eaze Dogg shared.

Eaze Dogg’s Commitment to the Community

Three weeks later, on April 27, Eaze Dogg took the stage once again, this time at the Community Reparations Jamboree held in Pack Square. The event, dedicated to highlighting black talent and promoting the importance of reparations, showcased Eaze Dogg’s versatility as an artist.

Speaking about the significance of reparations, Eaze Dogg emphasized the importance of acknowledging and addressing historical injustices. “We need to share what reparations mean to African Americans. This is a wonderful event, and I’m looking forward to doing it again next year,” Eaze Dogg stated.

Supporting Black-Owned Businesses and Community Initiatives

Alongside the music performances, the Community Reparations Jamboree featured a range of local black-owned businesses and organizations. From The Ashes Cultural Arts & Counseling, a black-owned small business focused on substance abuse counseling and community empowerment, was one of the participating booths at the event.

Ashley Tolbert, the creator of From The Ashes Cultural Arts & Counseling, highlighted the importance of education and resources in addressing substance abuse issues within the black and brown communities. “We do substance abuse counseling, DWI treatment and assessments, and anything pertaining to substance abuse and mental health. We go around the black and brown community, educating people, giving them resources and treatment,” Tolbert explained.

A Call for Unity and Progress

As the jamboree came to a close, Eaze Dogg emphasized the need for continued support for rap music in Asheville and the broader community. “The more we come and support, the more the scene will thrive as a whole. We can always do a better job,” Eaze Dogg urged.

The event served as a platform for artists, activists, and community members to come together in celebration of culture, creativity, and social justice. With Eaze Dogg leading the charge, Asheville continues to be a hub of artistic expression and community engagement.
