New restaurant opening in Asheville’s downtown food hall: Here’s what’s on the menu
ASHEVILLE – Asheville’s downtown food hall, The S&W Market, will bloom with more food and beverage options this spring. Flour, a café-style food stall, will tentatively open in May at the S&W Market at 56 Patton Ave. downtown.
Chef Gordon Gibbs is partnering with siblings Carter and Kyle James, of the James Brothers restaurant group, to open Flour. The James Brothers restaurateurs began with Bun Intended, also at S&W Market, supporting the vision of Chef Erica “Shorty” Imhoff with her concept that specializes in Thai-inspired street food style bao buns, snacks, and plates. Gibbs was the executive prep chef for the eatery’s food truck and food stall and is stepping out to make his culinary dreams a reality with Flour.
Flour plans to offer breakfast and pastries with options like biscuit sandwiches, yogurt bowls, and pastries throughout the day. The lunch menu will feature focaccia sandwiches, market salads, and sides. The beverage program will include coffee, cocktails, wine, and nonalcoholic options. Flour will also have grab-and-go items for retail sale.
The location of Flour in the front of the food hall will allow passersby to observe the chefs at work. The café will serve coffee and pastries all day, along with breakfast and lunch menus. Breakfast offerings include biscuit sandwiches and gluten-free options like a granola yogurt bowl. Pastries like blueberry crumb cake and various cookies will be available throughout the day.
On the lunch menu, Flour will feature hearty focaccia sandwiches made with fresh, in-house ingredients. Vegan and dairy-free options, such as the spiced cauliflower and roast chicken salad focaccia sandwiches, will also be available. The lunch menu will rotate based on farmers markets’ availability, emphasizing fresh produce in the area.
Flour’s beverage menu will offer a variety of drinks, including coffee, cocktails, wine spritzers, and nonalcoholic options. Retail grab-and-go items will be available for purchase. The planned opening date for Flour is tentatively in May.
