On May 4, Morsel Cookie Co., known for its thick, “ooey-gooey” cookies, announced its permanent closure at 175 Weaverville Highway, Suite D. Owner Caroline Dockery expressed gratitude to patrons for their support after 3 1/2 years of delighting customers with sweet treats.
Dockery hinted at a new chapter in her baking career after the closure, marking the end of a rewarding journey for the small cookie operation.
Zella’s Deli has completed its relocation from downtown Asheville to Swannanoa, now welcoming diners at 2372 US 70. Known for their New York-inspired classic pastrami on rye sandwiches and meatball subs, Zella’s Deli continues to serve up delicious deli fare in their new location.
The former downtown deli space at 48 College St. will be transformed into an extension of Imperial, the second-floor cocktail bar and mezcaleria, offering cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits on draft, along with food options.
Join The Crow & Quill for their 10th-anniversary party at 106 N. Lexington Ave. on April 28 from 7-11 p.m. The downtown cocktail and whiskey bar will host a night of free food, drink specials, dancing, and music by DJ Dr. Filth. Admission is on a sliding scale of $5-10 for guests 21 or older.
Chef Jacob Sessoms, a two-time James Beard nominated restaurateur, is launching a new dinner series at The Radical, the boutique hotel located at 95 Roberts St. Join him for the Jacob & Friends dinner series starting on May 6 at 6 p.m. inside Golden Hour, one of the hotel’s food and beverage concepts.
Guests can enjoy a curated menu featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients with special guests from the Western North Carolina food and beverage industry. The inaugural event will include an Ethiopian coffee and dessert pairing with Anna Raymond of Counter Culture Coffee, and wine tastings from Mike Tiano of Haw River Wine Man sharing wines from Italy.
