Gas prices in Asheville have seen a marginal increase of less than a cent in the past week, while the national average has seen a more significant decrease of over 3 cents, as reported by GasBuddy.
In a weekly report, gas prices per gallon rose by 0.7 cents in Asheville, averaging $3.34 on Monday, May 20, 2024. Today’s average is 0.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 6.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
At the national level, GasBuddy says the average price of gasoline has fallen 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.55 on Monday. The national average is down 12.0 cents per gallon from a month ago and 2.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
The national average price of diesel has fallen 3.3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.86 per gallon.
“The news continues to be good for motorists ahead of Memorial Day, with gasoline prices again falling, making it four straight weeks of declines for the national average as we get closer to the start of the summer driving season,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
De Haan added that drivers should see continued good news as gas prices are expected to stay below record levels over the next few months and should continue trending lower as the July 4th holiday nears.
