City of Asheville offices will be closed June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday

City of Asheville Announces Closure for Juneteenth

Asheville, NC – June 13, 2024

The City of Asheville has announced that its offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Regular office hours will resume on Thursday, June 20. The city’s various departments will have different schedules and services during the closure.

ART Bus Service and Trash Collection

ART Bus Service:

Asheville Rides Transit (ART) will operate on a Sunday schedule on June 19th. Passengers are encouraged to download the Transit app for trip planning. More information can be found on the City of Asheville Transit webpage.

Trash and Recycling:

Trash, recycling, and brush collection will run on a normal schedule on both June 19th and June 20th. The Sanitation Office will be closed on Wednesday for the holiday. Residents can check their trash pick-up schedule online.

City Parks and Facilities

Asheville Parks & Recreation:

City parks and greenways will be open on June 19, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Splasheville and pools at Recreation Park and Dr. Wesley Grant Sr. Southside Community Center will have specific operating hours. Community center buildings and administrative offices will be closed.

Regional Entertainment Facilities:

The Harrah’s Cherokee Center – Asheville will be closed on June 19. The Asheville Municipal Golf Course and WNC Nature Center will remain open.

Water and Emergency Services

Water:

Water Resources staff will be available for water-related emergencies 24 hours a day. Customers can report emergencies by calling the customer service line.

Emergency Services:

All public safety services will operate on a normal schedule, including police, fire, and emergency response.
