According to the official release from the Asheville Police Department, the victim has been identified as 76-year-old Joel Wayne Tucker. The unfortunate event occurred on the 4000 block of Sweeten Creek Road at 9:56 p.m.

Preliminary Investigation Report

The preliminary investigations reveal that Tucker was in the process of crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, heading south on Sweeten Creek Road. Immediately following the incident, Tucker was rushed to Mission Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Tucker succumbed to his injuries the day after the accident. The police department confirmed that Tucker’s next-of-kin has been notified about this tragedy.
