Asheville Police Detain Two Juveniles on Gun and Drug Charges

Asheville, N.C. — On Thursday, August 22, detectives and officers from the Asheville Police Department apprehended two juveniles on gun charges at an apartment complex in Asheville. The prompt action was a result of a thorough investigation that led to the discovery of illegal weapons, a significant amount of fentanyl, and cash.

Apprehending the Suspects

Attempting to make contact with the two juveniles around 6:14 p.m. at the Hillcrest Apartments, the officers found themselves in a brief foot chase. However, the pursued suspects were swiftly located and detained without any notable incidents.

Weapon and Drug Seizures

The arrest yielded an unexpected discovery. The apprehended juveniles were found to be carrying a notably large amount of fentanyl, three guns, and a substantial amount of money. Among the seized items, Asheville Police confiscated:

  • A Watchdog Tactical WD-15 AR pistol,
  • A Glock 19 pistol fitted with a full-auto switch kit,
  • A S&W SD40VE pistol,
  • Approximately 12 grams of fentanyl, and
  • About $7,123 in cash.

Charges Filed

The two juveniles have had several charges bestowed upon them. These include:

  • Trafficking in opium, or heroin by possession,
  • Possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II substance,
  • Possession of a handgun by a minor,
  • Possession of a weapon of mass destruction,
  • Resist, delay, and obstruct law enforcement.
