Asheville Police Investigating Pedestrian Fatality

In a tragic turn of events, the Asheville Police Department has begun an investigation into a pedestrian fatality that occurred in the city on August 8th. The fatal incident took place on the frequently traversed Sweeten Creek Road.

A news release issued by the department informed the public that the victim, 76-year old Joel Wayne Tucker, was struck by a vehicle, which led to his demise. The incident occurred on the 4000 block of Sweeten Creek Road at 9:56 p.m.

Details of the Incident

As the preliminary investigation reports, Tucker was attempting to cross the road when he was struck by a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Malibu. After the accident, Tucker was immediately transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries the next day. The department has stated that Tucker’s next-of-kin has been informed about his demise.

No Charges To Date

As of now, the Asheville Police Department has not filed any charges. The investigation is ongoing, as they examine the circumstances surrounding the accident and how it occurred. It is important to note that determining who is at fault in these types of situations often requires an in-depth investigation and the collaboration of multiple law enforcement authorities.
