In Asheville, North Carolina, officials are on a disheartening manhunt effort for a missing, endangered man. The man in question is 66-year-old Kent Reid who has been reported as missing since noon Thursday, as informed by the North Carolina for Missing Persons. This piece of information has left the local community under a cloud of concern and worry.
Reid was residing in the Chunns Cove Assisted Living facility from where he reportedly ran away. He was later located by the facility staff on the side of I-240 east, near exit 8. The staff approached him for a possible return to the facility, but Reid remained adamant on his decision and refused to come back with them. After a brief encounter, he fled again from the facility staff and made his whereabouts uncertain by running onto U.S. 74A (Fairview Road).
The officials have released a detailed description of Kent Reid, which may help in his identification. Reid was last seen wearing a black beanie, a blue and black windbreaker, a gray t-shirt, and black pants. He stands at about 6′0 and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He has black and gray hair and brown eyes.
To fast-track the search and retrieval process, officials are seeking the public’s assistance. Urging members of the community to remain vigilant, the Asheville Police have requested that anyone with a tip or information leading to Reid’s location, should contact them immediately. They can reach out to the Asheville Police at 828-252-1110.
The Officials have requested the public to not approach Reid directly if spotted, as he has been classified as an endangered individual. Citizens are instead urged to maintain a safe distance and promptly inform the Police.
In these perilous times, every citizen must contribute as a responsible part of the community. While the authorities are doing their bit, locals are encouraged to actively participate in this search too. Aiding the police in finding Reid will not only end this harrowing situation but would also reunite the elderly man with his care facility ensuring his safety.
