Hey there, Asheville! It’s not every day that our charming city finds itself at the center of such a dramatic incident, but that’s exactly what happened on the night of October 17th. Thankfully, this story has a silver lining—nobody was injured!
Picture it: a bustling restaurant in the 1900 block of Hendersonville Road, where families and friends gather to enjoy a good meal and the local atmosphere. Around 8:09 p.m., however, the calm ambiance was shattered as reports began to swirl about a man discharging a firearm inside the establishment. You can only imagine the chaos that must have ensued. It’s terrifying to think that such an event could occur right in our backyard!
As soon as the Asheville Police received the calls about the shooting, they sprang into action. Officers arrived at the scene and quickly gathered information that helped them gain crucial details about the suspect. It turns out, the situation only got more intense from there!
After some quick detective work, the police located the man they were looking for—identified as Danny Ochoa, a 35-year-old resident. He was found hiding in a nearby underground culvert, which must have made for quite the sight! Thankfully, the authorities managed to apprehend Ochoa without any further drama. Phew!
During the investigation, officers also managed to locate the discarded firearm that Ochoa used in the restaurant. It’s good to know that they were able to remove the weapon from circulation and ensure the safety of our community.
Following his arrest, Ochoa was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility. According to reports, he was charged with various offenses, leading to a secured bond of $62,000, or $6,200 if he goes through a bondsman to get released. As Asheville residents, we all hope that justice will take its course, ensuring that our community remains a safe place to live and visit.
We know that incidents like these can be alarming. If you’ve got any information about illegal activity in our area—or if you witnessed anything related to this case—don’t hesitate to reach out to the Asheville Police Department. Whether you call them at (828) 252-1110, use the TIP2APD smartphone application, or send a text using TIP2APD to the number 847411, every little bit helps make our city safer.
As Asheville comes to terms with this unfortunate event, it’s a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and support. We are a resilient city, known for its friendly faces and artistic spirit. Let’s continue to look out for one another and make sure that our charming little corner of the world remains a safe haven for all of us.
So, as we move forward from this event, let’s stay connected as a community and ensure that our conversations remain open. Be aware, be safe, and take care of one another, Asheville!
