Asheville is buzzing with news as police have charged three individuals in a serious incident that occurred on February 21. A late-night trip to a convenience store turned into a nightmare for one local woman who became a victim of an assault and robbery.
It was around 11:43 p.m. when officers responded to a report of an assault near the 40 block of Merrimon Avenue. Upon their arrival at the convenience store, they found a female victim in her vehicle receiving necessary medical assistance from bystanders who were at the right place at the right time. Unfortunately, the three suspects involved had already made their escape by then.
According to the victim, the whole ordeal unfolded as she returned to her vehicle after making her purchase. Almost immediately, she was approached by the trio, who didn’t waste any time. One of the suspects struck her in the forehead with a bottle, instantly causing a disturbance. To add insult to injury, they managed to steal her wallet just like that. It’s absolutely shocking to hear that someone would stoop to such low levels of behavior.
The victim, who thankfully suffered only minor injuries, was promptly transported to Mission Hospital for treatment. It must have been extremely distressing for her, but she is certainly not alone. The Asheville community stands behind her and is hoping for a swift resolution to this alarming situation.
Thanks to diligent police work, the suspects have been identified. They are:
All three suspects are facing some serious charges, including Felony Common Law Robbery, Felony Financial Card Theft, and Misdemeanor Assault Inflicting Serious Injury. Additionally, Jasmine Nikohl Lance is facing a further charge of Cyberstalking. It seems like the list of troubles is just piling up for these individuals.
The Asheville Police Department isn’t resting on their laurels. They are actively seeking help from the public to track down these suspects. Anyone who might have seen anything or knows about their whereabouts is encouraged to reach out. The police have provided a contact number: (828) 252-1110.
If someone prefers to remain anonymous, they can also submit tips through the revolutionary TIP2APD smartphone application or by simply texting TIP2APD to 847411. Every little piece of information could help lead to justice for the victim.
This unsettling incident has sent a ripple through the Asheville community, sparking conversations about safety and vigilance while out and about, especially during the late-night hours. Let’s hope that with the community’s help, justice will be served quickly!
