Asheville, known for its vibrant arts scene and supportive community, is facing some challenges due to the recent impacts of Hurricane Helene. However, the resilience of the Asheville Symphony shines through as they adapt and continue to bring music to the heart of the city.
First and foremost, it’s important to note that all Asheville Symphony musicians, staff, and board members are safe and accounted for. This is a huge relief for the community, as these talented individuals bring so much joy and creativity to our lives.
In a delightful initiative, a quartet of Asheville Symphony musicians has hit the streets, performing live music to lift spirits and energize those working tirelessly in the community. Whether you’re at a grocery store or walking through a park, you might catch a glimpse or hear the sweet sounds of classical melodies echoing around town. Their performances serve as a reminder that music has the power to unite and uplift during difficult times.
Originally slated for October, the upcoming Masterworks 2: Legacy, featuring the acclaimed classical pianist Terrence Wilson, has been moved to Saturday, January 18, 2025. Performances will still take place at the First Baptist Church of Asheville with shows at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. This decision ensures that audiences can enjoy the performance fully when the time is right.
All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date and corresponding performance times. If you’re one of those who can no longer make it on the new date, don’t worry! Just visit the symphony’s website for guidance on how to handle your ticket changes.
Audiences can still look forward to an enchanting program featuring pieces like the Prélude from Bach’s English Suite No. 2 in A Minor and Liszt’s Sonata in B Minor. And let’s not forget, we are all eager to experience Terrence Wilson’s riveting rendition of the Emperor concerto this winter!
On a brighter note, the Asheville Symphony is excited to announce that Masterworks 3: Messiah will proceed as planned! Mark your calendars for November 22 at 8 p.m. and November 23 with performances at 2 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.. This treasured musical work is a cherished holiday tradition and a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together to find peace and inspiration.
With the holidays just around the corner, there’s something truly magical about sharing music with one another. We’re all looking forward to celebrating this joyous season together, so be sure to check out the symphony’s website for more details and ticket purchases for the Masterworks 3: Messiah.
As we navigate through these changing times, the Asheville Symphony is committed to enhancing our community’s cultural landscape while ensuring everyone’s safety and wellbeing. Their response to Hurricane Helene shows that even in adversity, the spirit of Asheville remains unbroken. We can all look forward to remarkable performances and heartwarming moments in the months ahead.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the symphony’s upcoming events and performances – let’s continue to support the arts and come together as a community!
