Asheville Weather Update and Community Resources
Asheville, it looks like we’re in for some interesting weather today! Expect cloudy skies early, but the good news is that things will gradually clear up later! We’re looking at a high around 55°F with winds from the northwest at about 10 to 15 mph. So, if you’re heading out, maybe grab a light jacket to keep cozy. Tonight, temperatures will drop down to a low of 38°F. Winds will calm down a bit, coming in at 5 to 10 mph.
Community Resources Guide
In other news, the Biltmore Beacon is thrilled to announce that we will be publishing a Resources Guide every week to help you find vital community services in our area. Whether you’re looking for food assistance, medical support, or other resources, we’ll keep you updated on distribution addresses and operating hours. Make sure to check it out by Friday at 5 p.m. each week, and don’t forget, it will also be available online at Biltmorebeacon.com. Safety and Support from the Asheville Police Department
The Asheville Police Department is currently at full patrol staffing to ensure our community stays safe, with extra support from other law enforcement agencies as needed. If you need to request a welfare check or have crime tips, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can call the non-emergency line at 828-252-1110, and for urgent situations, remember to call 911. You can even text in your tips to TIP2APD at 847411.
Food and Water Distribution Sites
Asheville, if you need food or water, there are several distribution sites to help you out. Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), drinking water, and non-potable water for flushing toilets are available at various locations. Please remember to bring your own containers for any non-potable water! The public distribution sites are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. or until supplies run out. Here are some of the main locations:
- Pack Square Park, 70 Court Plaza (Walk-up only, bulk water)
- Asheville Middle School, 211 S. French Broad Ave.
- Shiloh Community Center, 121 Shiloh Road
- Linwood Crump Shiloh Community Center, 121 Shiloh Road
- Lucy Herring Elementary, 98 Sulphur Springs Road
- Oakley Elementary School, 753 Fairview Road
- Sand Hill Elementary, 154 Sand Hill School Road (enter via Acton Circle)
- Fairview Elementary School, 1355 Charlotte Hwy., Fairview
Each adult can grab two MREs, and each child can get one per day. Additionally, one case of bottled water is available per family per day, except at Pack Square. For those unable to travel to distribution sites, you can call 828-250-6100 for water delivery assistance.

Remember, Asheville, whether it’s mental health support or resources for pets, there are plenty of options available throughout the week. Services like Vaya and RHA Health Services are available 24/7 for those in need. Moreover, local food banks, pet clinics, and pharmacies are ready to help.
