Asheville, it looks like we’re in for some interesting weather today! Expect cloudy skies early, but the good news is that things will gradually clear up later! We’re looking at a high around 55°F with winds from the northwest at about 10 to 15 mph. So, if you’re heading out, maybe grab a light jacket to keep cozy. Tonight, temperatures will drop down to a low of 38°F. Winds will calm down a bit, coming in at 5 to 10 mph.
In other news, the Biltmore Beacon is thrilled to announce that we will be publishing a Resources Guide every week to help you find vital community services in our area. Whether you’re looking for food assistance, medical support, or other resources, we’ll keep you updated on distribution addresses and operating hours. Make sure to check it out by Friday at 5 p.m. each week, and don’t forget, it will also be available online at Biltmorebeacon.com. If you’re part of an organization and want to be included in the guide, just shoot us an email at Biltmorebeacon@gmail.com.
The Asheville Police Department is currently at full patrol staffing to ensure our community stays safe, with extra support from other law enforcement agencies as needed. If you need to request a welfare check or have crime tips, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can call the non-emergency line at 828-252-1110, and for urgent situations, remember to call 911. You can even text in your tips to TIP2APD at 847411.
Asheville, if you need food or water, there are several distribution sites to help you out. Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), drinking water, and non-potable water for flushing toilets are available at various locations. Please remember to bring your own containers for any non-potable water! The public distribution sites are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. or until supplies run out. Here are some of the main locations:
Each adult can grab two MREs, and each child can get one per day. Additionally, one case of bottled water is available per family per day, except at Pack Square. For those unable to travel to distribution sites, you can call 828-250-6100 for water delivery assistance.
If you have some time to spare, we need your help! To volunteer at any of the distribution sites, please reach out to smenaya-merritt@ashevillenc.gov or rwood@ashevillenc.gov. Your assistance can truly make a difference!
Remember, Asheville, whether it’s mental health support or resources for pets, there are plenty of options available throughout the week. Services like Vaya and RHA Health Services are available 24/7 for those in need. Moreover, local food banks, pet clinics, and pharmacies are ready to help. Do not hesitate to reach out if you’re needing assistance!
