Free Women’s Health Awareness and Wellness Conference in Asheville

Join us on April 13 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) for the Annual Women’s Health Awareness Conference. The event, hosted by the WNC Health Policy Initiative, in partnership with the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), will offer a day of health and environmental education, resources, and advocacy skills for women in Western North Carolina.

Conference Highlights

The free conference, celebrating its 10-year milestone, has supported over 6,000 women and families across North Carolina and beyond. Participants can expect sessions on a range of women’s health issues including chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and dementia. Special emphasis will be placed on addressing the needs of minority, underserved, and underrepresented women.

Free Health Screenings

One of the key offerings of the conference is free health screenings, including mammograms for qualifying women. To ensure eligibility for a free 3D mammogram, interested individuals must register for the event and complete the mammogram eligibility questionnaire by March 15. Appointment slots are limited, and there will be no on-site registrations for mammograms on the event day.

All individuals in Western North Carolina are invited to attend this informative and empowering event. Pre-registration by March 15 is required to reserve a space for the conference and lunch.
