Exciting Developments in Waynesville: Biltmore Church Construction on the Horizon

Waynesville, a charming town nestled in the heart of North Carolina, is buzzing with anticipation as plans for the new Biltmore Church campus are coming to life. At the intersection of Ratcliff Cove and the Old Asheville Highway, construction crews have been hard at work clearing a site that promises to bring both community and faith together.

A Grand Vision for the Community

The future Biltmore Church is set to take shape across eight acres of land, with a breathtaking design that includes a 25,000-square-foot building. This will not only serve as a place of worship, accommodating up to 300 congregants in the main worship area, but will also feature classrooms, youth rooms, and facilities tailored for children. The church is building with the intent to foster community ties and provide a welcoming environment for all.

Facing Unexpected Challenges

While progress has been steady, it hasn’t entirely been smooth sailing. Although the initial soil testing showed no signs of significant issues, workers were surprised to discover large amounts of debris buried beneath the ground. Roger Wright from R.L. Wright Construction explained, “We expected to jump straight into construction, but it turns out this piece of land used to be a waste site for the N.C. Department of Transportation.”

Since the start of the project, an astonishing 400 truckloads of material have been removed from the site. The construction team is currently transforming the area into settling ponds, which are designed to handle runoff and make the area more environmentally friendly. Even with these unplanned challenges, Roger remains optimistic: “We’re working through it, and progress is being made.”

A Community in Action

While the building itself is still under construction, Biltmore Church is actively engaging with the Waynesville community. Centering on service and outreach, Pastor Curt McClure has taken the initiative to foster relationships even before the church doors officially open. “We’re out here in the community, serving meals to local athletes and partnering with schools,” he shared.

The church will also take part in upcoming community events, including the Oct. 31 Treats on the Street and the Dec. 14 Smoky Mountain Christmas. McClure says, “Since our groundbreaking, it feels like the momentum has been amazing. We aim to create a Church that serves all of Haywood County.”

Looking Ahead

As construction plans inch forward, future church-goers and community members alike are hopeful for what’s to come. A decision on the official opening date is still pending, with the original goal of having services by Christmas being reassessed. Although the timeline may have shifted, excitement is palpable in the air.

A beautiful campus with sidewalks, landscaped grounds, and ample parking (including 249 spaces and provisions for accessibility) is just the beginning. McClure emphasizes the vision of fostering a welcoming atmosphere: “We want to create a community hub where everyone feels at home.”

Final Thoughts

Waynesville is experiencing a transformation, and the future of the Biltmore Church is a significant piece of that puzzle. With ongoing outreach and dedicated efforts towards construction, community members can look forward to the new church campus that promises not only to enhance the spiritual landscape but also to serve as a foundation for community connections. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
