Welcoming a new era: Black Mountain Center for the Arts’ new associate director
In the heart of the community, the Black Mountain Center for the Arts is a beacon of creativity and cultural expression. Since its incorporation in 1995, it has been captained by a single executive director overseeing its numerous programs, events, and near-constant community engagement. Beginning this month, BMCA is poised to embark on an exciting new chapter with the appointment of new Associate Director John Hall. The nonprofit arts center, known for its dedication to fostering artistic talent and enriching lives through various forms of expression, welcomes Hall with open arms and great anticipation.
Hall has been a theatrical producer, director, and performer for over 30 years in WNC and beyond. He has numerous contacts and relationships in the local education, theater, and nonprofit worlds. He has led the BMCA board for three years, currently serves with the ArtSpace Charter School Foundation, and has also served on Literacy Together’s Board of Directors. As a former educator at ArtSpace, Hall experienced the power of the arts in education and its impact on young and old alike.
New Leadership for BMCA
BMCA has long been a cornerstone of the arts in this community, offering a diverse array of programs including local and regional exhibitions, concerts, plays, and storytelling performances, classes and workshops, and educational outreach. With Hall joining forces with the nonprofit’s current director, Lori Cozzi, these offerings are expected to evolve and grow, catering to an even broader audience and ensuring that the arts remain accessible to all.
As Cozzi welcomes Hall in this new role, she will be transitioning to part-time leadership. This addition will not change the annual budget for the nonprofit, but will bring a whole new perspective to its mission. Hall’s extensive performance experience will bring the arts center to the forefront of the theater community in WNC.
