Everything changed for Brandon in 2010 during a casual cookout at his mother’s house. What he thought would be a regular family gathering turned into a pivotal moment in his life. “The chairman of the deacon board called me over. He said, ‘Hey, do you have a minute?’ And I’m like, ‘Sure, what’s going on?’” Brandon’s heart raced when he learned about the vote that had been cast—“to become my pastor.” He was in pure shock; he didn’t even know a vote had taken place!

Understanding Leadership
