The City of Asheville and the Public Art and Culture Commission (PACC) are inviting artists and designers to submit their qualifications for a new public artwork that will reimagine Station #7, the Art Deco Masterpiece, as part of Asheville’s Urban Trail. The selected artist(s) will have the chance to work with the City to create and install their proposal in the existing Outdoor Dining Area in front of the historic S&W Building at 56 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC. This project aims to add a fresh artistic dimension to the urban landscape of the city.
Interested artists can find more information and the official Call for Artists document on the City of Asheville’s Bid page under “Other”. The project is listed under Project Number 298-CFA-ArtDecoRedesign-24.
Here are some key dates to keep in mind:
Responses to the Call for Artists will be reviewed by an Artist Selection Panel, and up to three semi-finalists will be chosen to submit proposals. Semi-finalists will receive a $500 honorarium for their work. The final artist(s) will collaborate with the City on the installation of their artwork.
To learn more about the application process and to submit your qualifications, visit the City of Asheville’s Bid page and follow the instructions outlined in the Call for Artists document. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to leave your artistic mark on Asheville’s Urban Trail!
