A tragic incident occurred in Fairview, North Carolina, where a 26-year-old construction worker lost his life while installing high-speed internet for a new housing area. The worker, identified as Jesus Lopez Flores from Gainesville, Georgia, was operating construction equipment when the accident took place.

Details of the Incident

According to First Sgt. Barry Burnette of the N.C. Highway Patrol, the worker ran off the right side of Fairview Forest Drive and fell down an embankment. The area where the accident occurred is described as a steep incline in a rural location. The equipment overturned, leading to the tragic death of Jesus Lopez Flores.

Emergency Response

On June 10, Buncombe County received a 911 call about the incident around 8:15 a.m. Emergency responders, including Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, Buncombe County EMS, and Fairview Volunteer Fire Department, rushed to the scene to provide assistance.

OSHA Investigation

The N.C. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division is conducting an investigation into the fatality. The division, responsible for enforcing workplace safety and health laws in the state, has not disclosed the name of the employer involved in the incident.
