Are you ready for a weekend of creativity, inspiration, and connection? The charming town of Weaverville is gearing up for the much-anticipated fall installation of the Weaverville Art Safari, a delightful two-day studio tour that celebrates talented artists in our community. Mark your calendars for Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. This free event promises to be a feast for the senses, showcasing a wide variety of artistic styles and guest artists who are eager to share their latest creations.
This year’s Art Safari is particularly exciting as it introduces nine new artists to the tour, expanding the diversity of creative expressions on display. From stunning fine art to intricate woodwork and cozy knitted pieces, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Sara Bell, the marketing publications chair for the Weaverville Art Safari, emphasizes the spirit of growth and transformation among the artists. “We also celebrate how each member of the tour is growing and changing as an artist,” she says. “Attendees will often be the first to see these new works and enjoy them.”
One remarkable artist you won’t want to miss is Carol Eder-Smith, a jeweler known for her unique creations that feature exquisite stones and fossils from around the globe. She will be joining forces with Sue and Randy Hintz at their studio, Salvaterra Pottery & Woodworks. “My goal is to create one-of-a-kind jewelry that embodies the wearer’s individuality and showcases the wonders of nature,” Eder-Smith shares. This year, she will unveil new pieces made from carefully curated stones sourced from talented stone cutters in Tucson, Arizona. You can expect to find truly exceptional jewelry that tells a story.
Another talented guest artist, Michelle Wanat of Apothocarve, is a self-taught woodworker and broom maker. “I will be selling my heirlooms at Crucible Glassworks,” she announces enthusiastically. This year’s collection includes beautiful rolling pins, elegant dust pans crafted from wood and hammered brass, and charming mini vases designed to hold dried flowers—which cleverly feature clips for car vents and magnets for your fridge. As an added bonus, Wanat will be demonstrating the art of broom making throughout the day, offering an engaging way for visitors to learn about her craft.
With over 70 participating artists showcasing their work, the Weaverville Art Safari promises endless exploration and inspiration. However, with so much to see, it might be a challenge to visit every studio. That’s why Bell encourages everyone to engage with the artists during the tour. “Artists love the opportunity to show you their work and to talk about their process,” she explains. “Please talk to the artist and ask them questions. It helps us feel seen and appreciated.”
Indeed, fostering connections within the community is one of the primary goals of the Art Safari. Artists often work in separate spaces, so this event provides a unique chance for them to share their creative journeys and for attendees to gain insight into the artistic process. It’s a wonderful way to build community support and celebrate local talent.
Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in art, chat with talented creators, and perhaps even find that perfect piece to take home. To make the most of your visit, be sure to check out the detailed tour map available at the official Art Safari website. It will help you navigate through the unique studios and discover all the hidden gems the artists have crafted.
So, gather your friends and family and join us for an unforgettable experience at the Weaverville Art Safari this November. Your support means the world to the artists, and who knows—you might leave with a newfound appreciation for the creative spirit that thrives in our community!
