News Summary

As Asheville gears up for Earth Day 2025, the city will host several events celebrating environmental stewardship. From the 3rd Annual Hendersonville Earth Fest on April 19 to a city-wide cleanup on April 22, volunteers can engage in various activities promoting sustainability and conservation. Events include family-friendly activities, hands-on workshops, and community involvement aimed at making a positive impact on the planet. Residents are encouraged to participate in celebrating their love for the Earth through action.

Asheville Gears Up for Earth Day Cleanup and Festivities

As Earth Day 2025 approaches, Asheville is buzzing with excitement over a series of engaging events aimed at celebrating our planet while promoting environmental stewardship. The theme for this year’s Earth Day is “Our Power, Our Planet,”, and residents of Western North Carolina are ready to join hands in making a significant impact.

Festivals in Full Swing!

This year’s festivities kick off with the 3rd Annual Hendersonville Earth Fest, scheduled for April 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM along South Main Street. There will be family-friendly activities galore, offering everyone a chance to enjoy and protect the great outdoors. Local cultural and conservation groups are pulling together to educate visitors and raise awareness about the crucial conservation efforts necessary in our region.

One highlight of the Earth Fest will be the Sugar Hollow Solar showcasing a Solar Power House to demonstrate clean energy solutions. Meanwhile, Muddy Sneakers will feature hands-on activities that will encourage a love for nature and outdoor education. It’s a wonderful chance for families to explore and learn more about their environment.

If you’re a cycling enthusiast, the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club will provide free bike-checking services during the event. Plus, attendees can get a closer look at electric vehicles displayed by the BREV Club, providing an excellent opportunity to learn about sustainable transportation.

A Day of Cleanup and Community Spirit

The commitment to protecting Asheville doesn’t end there. An Earth Day Cleanup, organized by Explore Asheville Travel and Hospitality, is set to take place on April 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at five different locations around the city. Volunteers can choose to meet up for the cleanup at:

  • Downtown at Kimpton Hotel Arras
  • Biltmore Village at Village Pub
  • Black Mountain at Foothills Grange
  • River Arts District at The Radical
  • Weaverville at Eluvium Brewing Company

Participants are encouraged to arrive at their designated venues by 2 PM, where they will receive cleaning supplies, safety equipment, and instructions before diving into the cleanup efforts. It’s a perfect chance to team up with fellow community members for a great cause. And after all the hard work, each host location will have a post-cleanup social featuring local brews and light bites.

Every volunteer will take home custom event t-shirts, gloves, safety vests, grabbers, and trash bags—making cleanup not just rewarding but also fun!

Workshops and Plant Sales

On April 22, Lennox Station in Hendersonville will hold workshops focusing on printmaking, candle making, and environmental talks, accompanied by live local music throughout the day. It’s a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community while learning something new!

For those with a green thumb, Bee City USA is spreading the word about the importance of protecting pollinators. They’ll be sharing tips on how to preserve habitats for these essential creatures during Earth Week. Additionally, Bullington Gardens in Hendersonville is hosting its 21st Annual Spring Plant Sale from April 24-26, where visitors can peruse a fantastic selection of pollinator-friendly plants and trees that will help replenish those lost in recent environmental disasters.

The Spring Plant Sale promises to feature reliable vegetable starts, emphasizing sustainability and local ecology. With so many opportunities to get involved and learn, Ashvillians are excited to show their love for Mother Earth through action!

Local organizations are also rallying together to provide opportunities for community members to volunteer and help with recovery efforts post-Hurricane Helene. It’s clear that Asheville is not just celebrating Earth Day this year; it’s all about coming together, making meaningful changes, and showing that every bit of help counts for our treasured planet.
