Exciting Double Bill Featuring Faerietale Theatre and Found Creature Set to Captivate Asheville This September

Exciting Double Bill Coming to Asheville This September!

Asheville is buzzing with excitement as two spectacular shows are set to grace the stage at The BeBe Theatre from September 20 to 22! Titled King Arthur’s Body and Two Stars in the Vast Dark, this double bill features the creative talents of Faerietale Theatre and Minneapolis-based duo Found Creature. Both performances have previously delighted audiences at the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival held in March, and now they’re back for another round—just in time for the vibrant Blue Ridge Pride Festival!

A New Beginning for Faerietale Theatre

This event will mark the debut of Faerietale Theatre, a fresh face in the Asheville arts scene dedicated to producing collaborative works from LGBTQueer creators. Vinny Vignette Bonanno of Vignette Visions is at the helm, bringing together years of storytelling expertise, including elements from Arthurian legend. “We’re thrilled to connect Mountaine Jonas’s work with Merlin and our own vision to present King Arthur’s Body at the 2024 Fringe Festival,” Bonanno shared excitedly.

For those not in the know, King Arthur’s Body is meant to offer a blend of humor and heart, with performances featuring a talented local cast, including Jenna Jaffe, Matthew Colombo, Jacob Reid, and Mountaine Jonas himself. Not to mention a spirited guest from Tennessee, Tomfoolery!

Found Creature’s Unique Perspective

Alongside Faerietale Theatre, Found Creature brings their production Two Stars in the Vast Dark to the stage. This dynamic duo, made up of Charlotte Scheurell and Theo Leverenz, shares their own brand of storytelling that emphasizes the power of physical presence in theater. They passionately believe that “the immediacy and physical presence associated with theatre performance builds a connection you can’t feel with other forms of media”. Through their art, they aim to explore the nuanced emotions of the queer and trans experience while creating an embodied rapport with the audience.

A Call for Connection

At the heart of these performances is a message of unity and understanding. Bonanno hopes that “those who feel lonely and different in any way can laugh with us, cry with us, and leave knowing they’re not alone.” The shows promise to be not just entertaining but also deeply resonant, offering an inclusive space where audience members can find solace in shared experiences.

Details for Theatre Lovers

The BeBe Theatre is located at 20 Commerce Street in Asheville, making it a prime spot to catch these fabulous performances. Given the previous sell-out status of both shows, it’s recommended to grab your tickets in advance to ensure you don’t miss out on this special occasion. You can learn more about the shows, including purchasing tickets, by checking out Vignette Visions online.

So mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable weekend of storytelling that celebrates diversity and connection right here in Asheville!
