Exciting News for Asheville: New Initiative to Empower Black-Owned Businesses
Asheville, a city known for its vibrant arts scene and rich culture, is embracing a fresh wave of support for its local Black-owned businesses. Thanks to an innovative program called GATE (Greater Access to Tourism Entrepreneurship), spearheaded by Black Wall Street AVL, the community is set to see a significant boost in visibility and revenue for these businesses. This exciting initiative is aptly titled All for One.
What is the All for One Initiative?
The All for One initiative is designed to shine a spotlight on one Black-owned business each month, drawing in community support and encouraging locals to spend their dollars in these enterprises. This approach isn’t just about promoting individual businesses; it’s about enhancing the local economy as a whole and fostering inclusive growth in Asheville. “Collaboration is one of our three core pillars,” shares J Hackett, founder of Black Wall Street AVL. “With the All for One initiative, we are moving from ideas to action, empowering our community to thrive together.”
What Does the GATE Program Offer?
The GATE program is a comprehensive 12-month initiative that supports a variety of entrepreneurial efforts. Throughout the year, participants will access two entrepreneurial retreats and monthly meetings designed to build strong connections within the community. This program offers direct support through cohort learning, coaching, referrals, and networking opportunities specifically tailored for success in Asheville’s vibrant tourism sector.
Key outcomes for participants include increased business revenue, enhanced job creation, and expanded hiring capabilities. All of these factors contribute to a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Asheville that benefits the entire community.
Supporting the Initiative
The GATE program has garnered support from several local sponsors, including Duke Energy, Asheville Merchants Fund, and Community Foundation of WNC. Their backing highlights the importance of community collaboration in fostering an entrepreneurial environment that supports everyone.
