Exciting Lineup Announced for Asheville’s Wortham Center 2024/2025 Season

Exciting 2024/2025 Season Coming to Asheville’s Wortham Center for the Performing Arts

Asheville is in for a treat! The Wortham Center for the Performing Arts has just unveiled its full lineup for the much-anticipated 2024/2025 season, bringing more than 30 performances that include music, theatre, dance, magic, comedy, cirque, and spoken word to the heart of our city. The season kicks off on Thursday, September 26, at 7 p.m., featuring the delightful stand-up comedian Karen Morgan.

A Launch into Laughter with Karen Morgan

Now, let’s talk about Karen Morgan. She’s not just a comedian; she’s a proud member of Generation X, bringing a unique perspective that resonates with many of us. With her witty observations about life as a wife, mother, and Southerner, she creates a warm connection that feels like chatting with an old friend. “All of us are going through something,” she says, emphasizing the importance of shared experiences. Morgan’s hope is that her shows will remind audiences of their cherished childhood moments, igniting a sense of nostalgia while making us all realize how lucky we were to grow up in a different time.

Rae Geoffrey, the managing director of Wortham Center, shares the reasoning behind launching the season with comedy. “With the busy pace of life and the stress of this time of year, laughter is a balm for our senses,” she explains. Starting the season with a comedian like Karen Morgan sets the tone for a joyful experience. Laughter, it seems, is just what we need as we navigate the ups and downs of life.

The Magic of Live Performance

Morgan describes stand-up comedy as “such a pure form of entertainment.” It’s all about one person sharing their thoughts with a live audience, creating an intimate atmosphere akin to a heartfelt conversation. The feedback is immediate; you can feel the energy in the room. It’s this connection that makes attending a live show so special.

A Season of Variety and Family-Friendly Fun

But the fun doesn’t stop with comedy! The remainder of the Wortham Center’s lineup includes a new series specifically designed for family audiences. This series promises to engage younger generations with magic, science, and captivating light puppetry. Geoffrey notes, “We’re proud to offer accessible programming at affordable prices. Providing cultural enrichment and wonder to our future leaders is a priority.” What a fantastic way to inspire the next generation!
