Fall Event Series at Black Mountain Center for the Arts Features Bluegrass, Storytelling, and Comedy

Fall in Black Mountain: A Season of Music and Stories

As the crisp air of autumn settles in, there’s more in the wind than just falling leaves. Residents of Black Mountain are in for a treat, as the Black Mountain Center for the Arts (BMCA) unveils its exciting Fall Event Series. Over the next couple of months, a fantastic lineup of musicians, storytellers, and comedians will grace the stage in the cozy BMCA theater. The fun kicks off this very weekend!

Bluegrass Beats to Start the Season

This Saturday, October 5th at 7 p.m., get ready to tap your feet to the sounds of Cast Iron Bluegrass, a local favorite known for their rich, Americana-inspired tunes. For just $20, you can immerse yourself in a night filled with soulful melodies and toe-tapping rhythms. It’s the perfect way to usher in the season!

A Unique Storytelling Experience

Then, mark your calendars for October 11th. This night promises something really special with an event called The Campfireball. Developed over two years at East Tennessee State University, this isn’t your average storytelling session. Instead of listening to someone tell a story, audience members will actively participate, sharing their own narratives and weaving them into a larger tapestry of experiences. This 90-minute immersive event is all about connection and spontaneity, and tickets are just $15. Join the fun at 7 p.m. and be part of something truly memorable!

Bluegrass Fans Rejoice!

Hot on the heels of The Campfireball, on October 12th, local legends Buncombe Turnpike take the stage at 7 p.m. Known for their energetic performances and heartwarming original songs, this band blends traditional and contemporary bluegrass seamlessly. You won’t want to miss out on their lively show, and tickets are just $15. Seats are disappearing fast, so snag yours soon!

Spotlight on Local Storytellers

Continuing the creativity, the annual storytelling event featuring the talented Connie Regan-Blake is back on October 19th. Connie’s ‘Taking the Stage’ workshop culminates in a night filled with diverse and captivating voices. This year’s performers include Andy Russell, Caty Carlin, and many others. With Connie as the emcee, expect an evening of unique stories presented with flair. Tickets cost $18 in advance or $22 at the door if available. The show starts at 7 p.m.

Laughter Awaits with Improv Comedy

On October 26th, prepare for a night of laughter as the Reasonably Priced Babies take the spotlight. This improv comedy troupe, winners of the 2024 Mountain Xpress’s Best of WNC awards, is ready to make you howl with delight. Using audience suggestions, their spontaneous performances are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Join them at 7 p.m. for another affordable ticket priced at just $15.

A Soulful Finale to the Series

Finally, wrapping up the Fall Event Series, Hustle Souls will hit the stage on November 23rd at 7 p.m.. Known for their vibrant mix of retro-soul, New Orleans brass, and Americana, this Asheville-based band is brimming with energy. With ticket prices at $20, this is a concert that promises to blend heartfelt sounds with engaging performances. Don’t miss your chance to experience them live!
