Free Dental Clinic Offered in Asheville This Weekend

Free Dental Clinic Offered in Asheville This Weekend

Asheville, N.C., Friday, September 6, 2024 – In a significant move towards providing essential dental care to underserved populations, the North Carolina Dental Society has organized a free dental clinic in Asheville. Taking place from Friday, Sept. 6 to Saturday, Sept. 7, the initiative aims to give access to dental cleanings, exams, X-rays, and fillings completely free of charge.

Local Dentists Extend their Services

The dental community in Asheville is stepping up and volunteering their time for this cause. “This is actually a really fun event for the whole dental community to give back – all across the state, we do these,” stated Dr. Lauren Marechal, a volunteering dentist at the clinic. “It’s just nice because it’s a lot of underserved populations that actually get a chance to get treatment and good treatment.”

The professionals offering their services emphasize that not only is this an opportunity to contribute to their local community but also a way to bridge the gap between health services and those who can’t access or afford those regularly. Free dental clinics such as this one are becoming a crucial platform for providing necessary healthcare to those left out of the system.

Clinic Details

The two-day clinic is scheduled for adults only. The services start at 6 a.m. and will be available until 3 p.m. at the East Asheville Biltmore Church. Those interested in availing of the services are advised to turn up early as it operates on a first-come-first-served basis until all slots for the day have been filled.

Addressing Dental Health, One Clinic at a Time

Dental health often takes a backseat due to the prohibitive costs associated with it. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every four Americans does not have dental insurance. In such a scenario, free dental clinics are a boon for people lacking access to affordable dental care or insurance coverage.

The North Carolina Dental Society’s free clinic in Asheville is expected to cater to hundreds of people who do not receive regular dental care due to various reasons. The event is also a step towards increasing awareness about the importance of regular dental check-ups and early intervention in detecting potential health problems.

Moving Ahead

This effort seeks to highlight a pressing issue – the need for accessible and affordable dental care. By providing this service free of charge, the North Carolina Dental Society is not only setting a precedent for other similar organizations but also addressing a significant gap in the healthcare system.

Asheville residents are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity and to spread the word to ensure more people benefit from this initiative.

The local community’s effort to come together for a cause like this truly underscores the statement – Every Smile Matters!
