Protect your plants. Frost advisory out for most of WNC Monday night

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Tonight will be another night to protect the plants in Western North Carolina as the National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for most of the region until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Warning

A mainly clear sky and light wind will help temperatures cool into the lower to mid 30s in many locations. Late-season cold snaps this time of year are known as Blackberry Winter. The average date for the last spring freeze in Asheville is April 15.

Tuesday’s Weather

The ridge of high pressure bringing cold, dry air tonight moves east of the region on Tuesday. This shift will bring in warmer air with southerly winds, allowing high temperatures to rebound into the lower 70s.

Wednesday’s Outlook

Wednesday morning lows will be in the low to mid 40s as the weather pattern continues to transition towards milder conditions.
