Gas prices in the Asheville area have risen by 2.5 cents per gallon in the last week, with an average price of $3.34/g on Monday. This is 8.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago, but still 4.7 cents per gallon lower compared to last year. The national average price for diesel has dropped by 2.9 cents to $3.98 per gallon.
In Asheville, the cheapest gas station was selling at $3.14/g while the most expensive was at $3.69/g, showing a difference of 55.0 cents per gallon. The national average price for gasoline has decreased by 1.9 cents per gallon to $3.63/g on Monday. However, this is still 8.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 4.3 cents per gallon higher than last year.
Comparing historical data, Asheville’s gas prices have fluctuated over the years. Currently, neighboring areas such as Spartanburg, Knoxville, and Greenville have varying gas prices.
GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, Patrick De Haan, suggests that the peak gas prices for the spring may have passed, providing some relief to consumers. While there may be potential issues in the latter part of the summer, De Haan believes that the worst is over for now and anticipates a stable summer similar to the previous year.
