Henderson County Public Schools Recognizes 97 CTE Scholars

Henderson County Public Schools recently celebrated the accomplishments of 97 graduating Career & Technical Education (CTE) students at the 26th Career & Technical Education Scholars’ Reception. These students were honored for their academic success in CTE courses and their commitment to their chosen career paths.

Recognition of Academic Excellence

The CTE Scholars, who are CTE Concentrators as per the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, have shown dedication by earning two or more technical credits in a Career Cluster Pathway, including at least one completer course. Maintaining a high GPA in CTE courses and overall academics, each scholar received commendations from three teachers for their outstanding performance.

The scholars are active members of various CTE student organizations, such as Future Business Leaders of America, DECA, and SkillsUSA, where they have honed essential leadership and employability skills critical for their future careers.

Preparedness for the Professional World

Scott Moore, Director of Middle Schools/Career & Technical Education at HCPS, highlighted the importance of the CTE Scholar designation in showcasing students’ readiness for the professional world. The students’ participation in student organizations and attainment of workplace credentials and certifications further demonstrate their preparedness for post-graduation endeavors.

In 2023, CTE students at Henderson County Public Schools earned 2,500 workplace credentials or certifications, including those in healthcare, finance, technology, and construction industries.
