Asheville, N.C. is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for the highly anticipated Holiday Jamboree on Saturday, November 23. This year, the event will be held in the picturesque Pack Square Park and aims to spread warmth and cheer throughout the community.
Traditionally, Asheville hosts a festive holiday parade each year, but this time around, organizers have chosen to switch things up a bit. This decision comes in the wake of concerns regarding resource allocation; specifically, ensuring the safety and well-being of attendees post-Hurricane Helene, which affected many aspects of the city.
In light of these circumstances, the parade was deemed as taking up “more city resources,” leading to the creation of the Holiday Jamboree instead. Organizers believe this will allow them to still celebrate the season while being mindful of the community’s needs.
Hayden Plemmons, the executive director of the Asheville Downtown Association, expressed the sentiment behind the festive change. “We really want this to be a little bit of a celebration of thanks for our first responders, for our community, for the volunteers, for everybody who’s played a role in rebuilding our city,” Plemmons said. This heartfelt message encapsulates the spirit of the jamboree, highlighting appreciation and togetherness.
Attendees can look forward to a delightful array of activities and offerings during the Holiday Jamboree. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the day of the jamboree, with the holiday market extending its hours until 5 p.m.. A variety of food vendors will be present, showcasing delicious options that will surely please every palate. Think of warm treats and savory delights that will create an inviting atmosphere for all.
Beverages will also be available to help keep spirits bright and warm, adding a toasty touch to the gathering. Enjoying a hot drink while strolling through the bustling environment of the jamboree is sure to be a highlight of the day.
Guests attending the event can expect live performances that will enhance the festive ambiance. Local artists will take the stage to entertain the crowd with music that will get everyone in the holiday spirit. This is a wonderful opportunity for community members to come together, celebrate, and enjoy the talents of their neighbors.
In addition to food and entertainment, the Holiday Jamboree also emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses. The holiday market will feature various vendors offering unique gifts and handmade items, perfect for the upcoming holiday season. Shopping locally not only supports the community but also allows attendees to find one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved ones.
As the Holiday Jamboree approaches, it’s clear that this event is about more than just festivities. It’s an opportunity for Asheville residents to come together, celebrate resilience, and express gratitude for the hard work and dedication of first responders and volunteers pursuing community rebuilding efforts. Attendees are encouraged to bring their loved ones to join in on the fun and sense of community as the holiday season officially kicks off in Asheville.
So mark your calendars for November 23 and get ready for a day filled with food, fun, and festivities at the Asheville Holiday Jamboree. Let’s celebrate the spirit of the season together!
