Hurricane Helene Leaves Its Mark on North Carolina

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced that Interstate 26 East also reopened on Monday, giving those needing to flee from affected areas a safer passage out.

However, it’s important to note that Interstate 40 West and Interstate 26 West, which connect North Carolina with Tennessee, remain closed. Unfortunately, no timeline has been provided for when these routes will be operational again. Until then, the Department of Transportation has advised that all other roads in Western North Carolina should be considered closed to non-emergency travel.
