This year’s ‘Ingles Independence Day Block Party’ in downtown Asheville set records for some businesses along the South Slope with one of the biggest holiday celebrations yet.
Record Attendance Boosts South Slope Businesses
As thousands of people walked along Coxe Avenue on Thursday, July 4, it resulted in thousands of dollars spent at the different restaurants and breweries in the area. The Asheville Downtown Association executive director, Hayden Plemmons, expressed delight at the turnout, stating, “Our businesses were packed, and people were having a fantastic time. We look forward to hosting on the South Slope in the future.”
Well Played Board Game Cafe Thrives
The block party helped establishments both old and new, including the two-year-old Well Played Board Game Cafe. The cafe saw a surge in visitors, with general manager Mike Belsole noting, “Pretty much by noon and on, we were completely full. We saw hundreds and hundreds of guests yesterday. We learned a lot and are excited to make next year even better.”
Belsole added that the boost from Independence Day has positioned the game cafe well for the upcoming fall season, anticipating sustained success.
