Elementary and middle school students recently demonstrated their scientific skills at the second annual Lego League Challenge Event. The event took place at North Henderson High School, where students from 13 schools in Henderson County, five schools in Buncombe County, and participants from the Hendersonville Boys and Girls Club showcased their robots. Over the past few months, these students have worked on building, coding, and refining their robots to compete in a series of challenges.
According to Henderson County educators, participation in Lego leagues helps students develop various skills such as coding and teamwork. The students also hone their problem-solving abilities as they face challenges in coding and testing their robots.
This year’s Lego League Challenge Event was larger than the last, indicating a growing interest in robotics competitions. These events are popular globally, with competitions held in over 100 countries around the world.
