Mars Hill University breaks ground for campus center

March 22, 2024 – Asheville

Around 220 people gathered on the Lunsford Commons of Mars Hill University on Friday, March 22, to celebrate the formal groundbreaking of a new $28 million campus center. The centrally-located center will feature student activity space, a student fitness center, and space for gaming and dining. It will also house various student-centric offices, including admissions, career readiness, chaplaincy, student life, and student organizations. The project involves renovating and expanding Blackwell Hall, the former administration building, and creating enhanced outdoor spaces adjacent to it.

The campus center is the main focus of the Together We Rise Capital campaign, which began in January 2021. President Tony Floyd expressed gratitude to everyone involved in supporting the project, including former President Dan Lunsford. The campus center embodies the spirit of the university and represents a significant step forward for the campus community.

Students symbolically broke ground at the construction site to mark the beginning of this transformative project.
