Henderson County Public Schools will continue serving the health and wellness of students over the summer months through the Summer Food Service Program. From June 3 through July 26, the HCPS Child Nutrition Department will operate four open sites, consisting of stops along two Meals on the Bus routes. New this year are the park locations, ensuring children can comfortably enjoy meals on-site.
Each stop features picnic tables and outdoor space. Lunch meals will be available to children ages 2-18 at no cost to families Monday-Friday at various locations.
Weekdays June 3-July 26, Jackson Park Shelter 4 11-11:45 a.m. and East Flat Rock Park noon-12:45 p.m.
Weekdays June 3-July 26, Edneyville Community Center 11-11:45 a.m. and Dana Community Park noon-12:45 p.m.
HCPS’ Child Nutrition Department annually participates in the USDA-funded Summer Food Service Program, providing meals at no cost to children at closed and open meal sites.
All HCPS schools are considered closed sites. Open sites along the Meals on the Bus routes are open to any child aged 2-18 for lunch meals during the designated times June 3-July 26.
Federal laws and food safety standards determine the length of the Meals on the Bus stops, planned by the Child Nutrition Department. Contact the HCPS Child Nutrition Department for more information.
Sites will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
