A host of newcomers have entered Asheville’s restaurant, cafés, bar, and brewery scene in the first quarter of 2024. From food trucks evolving to brick-and-mortar locations to new hotel hangout spots and original dining experiences from chefs, the culinary landscape in Asheville has been enriched with a variety of offerings. Let’s take a look at some of the new food and beverage businesses that have opened from January to March 2024:
In January, Bridge and Tunnel Coffee expanded from a mobile coffee truck to a brick-and-mortar café at 10 Fernihurst Drive in the Coman Student Activity Center at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College.
Also in January, Good Hot Fish opened at 10 Buxton Ave., inside Eulogy, a new music and event venue located within Burial Beer Co.’s South Slope taproom. The modern fish camp-style restaurant is owned by James Beard Award-nominated and “Top Chef” Season 19 contestant Ashleigh Shanti.
The Dolly Llama Waffle Master welcomed customers in January with a menu featuring handcrafted waffles and ice cream treats at 2 Town Square Blvd., Suite 130, in Biltmore Park Town Square.
After/Glow officially opened its doors in January inside River Arts District’s new boutique hotel, The Radical, located at 95 Roberts St. The café and bar offer coffee during the day and transition to serving cocktails at night, accompanied by down-tempo tunes and deejay sets to create the perfect ambiance.
Expanding from a food truck, The Smokin’ Onion transitioned to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in January, offering a full menu of plant-based meals for breakfast and lunch at 697 Haywood Road in West Asheville.
In January, the family behind Lee’s Asian Market and Asiana Grand Buffet transformed the former restaurant into an Asian supermarket called Asiana Market. The market sells imported goods, produce, meat, seafood, and more at 1968 Hendersonville Road.
February saw the opening of Master BBQ, a Filipino barbecue food truck that found a permanent home at Zillicoah Beer Co. on 870 Riverside Drive in Woodfin.
