Carrier Park

Carrier Park is a premier park in Asheville, built on the site of a former racetrack that was converted to a velodrome for cycling. Volleyball courts, a large playground, a roller hockey rink, and a basketball court are all located on the infield. There’s also a lawn bowling alley, a baseball and soccer multi-use sports area, a picnic pavilion, river vistas, and wetland interpretive walks. The French Broad River Greenway, a 2.8-mile paved cycling and pedestrian trail that winds along the river, connects Carrier Park to Hominy Creek Park and French Broad River Park. 220 Amboy Road, Asheville, NC 28801

Pack Square Park

This historic park was born out of a project that began in 1901, when Asheville benefactor George W. Pack donated land to the county, allowing the old courthouse to be demolished and a new courthouse to be built on College Street. The county was compelled by Pack’s offer to dedicate the historic square as a public park in perpetuity. In 1903, the location was renamed Pack Square. Pack Square Conservancy, a non-profit group founded in 2000 to design and create the 6.5-acre park as well as raise the necessary money, pioneered the present park project. The renovated park, which includes the old City-County Plaza, now Roger McGuire Green, and the mid-park, now Reuter Terrace, opened in 2009.

Richmond Hill Park

The French Broad River runs through Asheville’s largest wooded municipal park, which has a mountainous landscape and vistas of the river. An 18-hole disc golf course, a network of unpaved trails, a picnic shelter, and parking are among the amenities.
