One lucky Powerball player in Asheville, North Carolina, has yet to claim a prize worth $50,000 following the Aug. 7 draw, the North Carolina Education Lottery has confirmed. The unclaimed ticket reportedly matched all but one of the Powerball numbers, leading to a substantial prize.
The ticket for the draw in question bore the white ball numbers 6-19-35-47-57, along with the red Powerball number 9. This tantalizing near-miss combination resulted in the hefty $50,000 win. The ticket was bought at the Stanley’s Citgo location on 479 Weaverville Road in Asheville.
A spokesperson for the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed on Aug. 12 that the prize has not been claimed. The winner has yet to come forward to receive their windfall.
While the winning ticket remains unclaimed, the lucky party isn’t out of time just yet. According to lottery rules, winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize. As such, the Asheville Powerball winner still has plenty of time to come forward and claim their reward.
Asheville has been fortunate in terms of lottery wins recently. Besides the unclaimed Powerball ticket, another resident from the vicinity claimed a $200,000 reward on a scratch-off lottery ticket in Yancey County recently. In addition, an Arden man cashed in his luck with a $100,000 Cash 5 Ticket.
Nevertheless, the $50,000 Powerball remains unclaimed, and residents are urged to check their tickets.
Winners can claim their prize by visiting the North Carolina Education Lottery website and following the outlined process.
Generally, it is advisable for lottery ticket buyers to check their tickets periodically. Irrespective of whether they believe they have won or not, it is essential to check tickets after every draw. Prize-winning draws often go unclaimed, leaving the winners out of pocket simply because they didn’t know they had won, didn’t believe it, or misplaced their ticket.
In conclusion, lottery tickets can bring luck and a financial boost – but only if they’re claimed. So if you’re an Asheville resident who bought a Powerball ticket for the Aug. 7 draw, dig out that little slip of hope and check those numbers – you could be holding onto a $50,000 windfall.
