The Red House Gallery, in its new location on Cherry Street, has experienced a surge in visitors following its grand reopening. Swannanoa Valley Art League President Tina Kannapel noted that the gallery is now seeing around 47 visitors daily, a significant increase from its previous location on the Monte Vista property. The move to the new location was prompted by the need to vacate the red farmhouse on the Monte Vista property, which was acquired by new owners in September of last year.
The Swannanoa Valley Art League, a nonprofit organization that offers art classes for the community, has received support from grants and partnerships to enhance its offerings. With approximately 145 members, the league plays a vital role in promoting art and creativity in Black Mountain. The Red House Gallery’s new location on Cherry Street showcases a diverse collection of art from its members and hosts regular exhibitions and events.
According to Kannapel, the presence of the Swannanoa Valley Art League and the Red House Gallery is crucial for the arts community in Black Mountain, providing a unique platform for local artists to display their work and engage with the community. The gallery’s spotlight artist program and monthly art talks further enrich the cultural scene in the area.
Visitors can explore the Red House Gallery at its new location on 101 Cherry St., open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
